In Other Words presents six brand new short plays by LGBT writers responding to the stories from Pride In Plymouth’s award-winning LGBT Archive. Its title is inspired by Plymouth’s longstanding independent and radical bookstore of the same name, as it was a safe space for LGBT individuals over the many years it was open in Mutley Plain.

Five of the writers are from Plymouth: Alan Butler, Jo Lewis, Paul Cooke, Jennifer McDerra and Jon Nash; Natalie McGrath, who is leading on the partnership project We’ll Meet In Moscow, is the sixth writer.

This is a scratch reading and the first time these new play will have been shared with an audience. There will be a chance to have a conversation with the writers and director in response to the work after the readings. In Other Words is directed by Josie Sutcliffe who has also supported each of the writers dramaturgically.

In Other Words is part of We’ll Meet In Moscow, which is in partnership with Pride In Plymouth, Plymouth’s LGBT Archive, Barbican Theatre, Plymouth and Dreadnought South West.

In Other Words has been made possible with support from Plymouth’s Vital Sparks Community Fund, Plymouth City Council, Crowdfunding and Arts Council England.
