Michelle Ridings is a theatre maker, performer, and vocal coach and is currently an Associate Artist with Dreadnought South West. She performed in Dreadnought’s 2013 tour of ‘Oxygen’ and has been part of the creative team developing their new work ‘The Orchard’.
Michelle studied Theatre at Dartington College of Arts, and since leaving has co-created a wide variety of productions of street theatre, processional performance, new circus and cabaret both in the UK and in Europe. Playing mainly on the fringes, busking and festivals, she’s also been involved in environmental activism, using the tools of theatre to raise awareness of issues and causes.
She is an actress and physical performer, singer and clown.
Michelle is also a workshop facilitator/educator, experienced in working to find creative solutions with a broad range of communities and their particular needs, including mental health, dementia, the effects of substance misuse and domestic abuse.
She is interested in creating theatre and performance that encourages diversity, debate and promotes an understanding of inherited historical positions; She is passionate to make work which advocates social change, aims to develop common emotional intelligence and assists the potential of human evolution.
She specifically enjoys the creative, collaborative and democratic process of feminist theatre and is delighted with this opportunity to work with the inspirational creative team for WMIM.
